MLK Day of Service 2026

 

Come join us for the 6th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Cleanup Event!

This community cleanup is hosted by the West Augustine Nature Society and the West Augustine Improvement Association, in partnership with the St. Augustine Connection, Maria Jefferson Chapter of the D.A.R., SAHS Interact Club, SAHS National Honor Society, SAHS JROTC, Protential Foundation, Beachside National Honor Society, Florida Water Warriors, Cedar Church, the Nu Epsilon Sigma Rhoer Club, and Dancing Treetops.

The event will take place on Monday, January 19th, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Please meet us at 252 N McLaughlin St, St. Augustine, FL 32084 at 9:00 AM and be ready to clean up.

Breakfast will be provided by Elizabeth Jennings from One Sotheby’s Realty, St. Augustine, and Coast2Coast Mortgage.

Please bring gloves and/or grabbers, warm clothes, and water.

Amazing Turnout on a Chilly Morning for the MLK Day of Service Cleanup Event!

 

From all of us at the West Augustine Nature Society, we would love to thank everyone who came out on Monday in the freezing cold to come out and help celebrate Martin Luther King Day of Service with us! Even with the weather, around 200 people joined us Monday morning, and over the span of 3 hours, we were able to collect about a ton of trash and several old tires with all of your help. 

Each year this event grows more with support and we cannot thank all of our volunteers enough! Without these amazing volunteers, who are dedicated to help us with our goal of making the world a cleaner place, we wouldn't be able to do what we do.

Special shoutout to Elizabeth Jennings and Kate Mitchell from ONE Sotheby's Real Estate for providing continental breakfast and warm drinks for our volunteers this chilly morning, I know we all appreciated it!

West Augustine Nature Society Clean Up

Yesterday we had a great time at the Earth Day clean- up event.We cleaned up part of N Volusia Street, West King Street, St. johns Street and Duval Street.

Thank You to the St Johns County Waste Department - Report Illegal Dumping

Last week the county came and cleaned up a lot of the trash that had been dumped in our local wetlands, so we would like to thank the St. Johns County Waste Department for cleaning up garbage that has been illegally dumped into our local wetlands and ditches here in West Augustine.
