Overwhelming Support from 200 Volunteers at the MLK Day Cleanup Event in St. Augustine

On behalf of the West Augustine Nature Society, we want to thank everyone who came out to our 4th annual MLK day cleanup event held on January 15, 2024.

Without the amazing volunteers this event would not be possible.

Over 200 people came to our event this year, and with your help we were able to collect 103 trash bags, 7 tires, and 1 television from polluting our community, helping to honor DR. Martin Luther King Jr.

We are especially grateful for the support we got from our community partners as they not only helped by coming out to this year's cleanup, but also helped by providing tools, spreading the word, and sponsoring prizes for the raffle.

We are overwhelmed by the ever growing support for the MLK day cleanup event, and we are especially thankful for both Action News Jax and First Coast News for coming out to cover the event and put the spotlight on our awesome volunteers.

 

After the event we invited everyone who came to our cleanup to head downtown to the Martin Luther King Jr Silent March. This year the turnout was very high as a lot of you at the cleanup came to the march.

Afterwards we stopped for a treat At Ben & Jerry's on St George St., where they offered free Ice Cream to anyone at the cleanup.

Save the date for the 2024 Earth Day Everyday Cleanup. It will take place on Sunday, April 21, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
